Why Visit Otari-Wilton's Bush?

It contains the only stand of original native forest on the entire Wellington Peninsula, and is very easy to appreciate, and to marvel at. Being in mature native forest is a rich and beautiful experience.

The Wilton Foundation Te Tiaki Taiao aims are:

  • To encourage all young New Zealander’s enthusiasm about outdoor spaces
  • To help them find healthy ways to relate to their natural environment.
  • To provide experience of hands-on conservation work and ecological restoration.
  • To promote a bicultural understanding of the environment and associated history.
  • This is done through visits to Otari-Wilton's Bush, and also, if required, to a group's local areas of natural beauty.
